Teatro Chicana with Hijas De Su Madre

Four authors to speak and perform

TEATRO CHICANA: In the 1970s and 80s in San Diego a group of Chicana
women participated in a theater group whose plays addressed social
gender and political issues of the working class and the Chicano
Movement. Four of the women of Teatro Chicana will share why they
joined the theater and how it transformed their lives. They will also
perform some scenes of their most famous pieces as well as new and
emerging work.

HIJAS DE SU MADRE who are best known for their ritual poetic
performance Las Mamalogues will be sharing some of their most recent
work.
